The Taiyuan Metropolitan Area Rail Transit Network Planning has been approved by the provincial government recently.

The reply shows that the provincial government agrees in principle with the Rail Transit Network Planning of Taiyuan Metropolitan Area. Agree on the long-term annual line network plan of Taiyuan Metropolitan Rail Transit in 2035, with 11 lines, a total length of 462.4 km and 233 stations; Agree on the rail transit network plan of Taiyuan Metropolitan Area in 2050, with 13 lines, a total length of 612.6km and 278 stations; Agree with the basic direction of 13 lines, the setting scheme of stations and transfer stations determined in the plan. At the same time, for the lines to be constructed in the near future, the near-term construction plan shall be prepared and submitted to the state for approval according to the procedure, so as to ensure the early commencement of construction.

The people's governments of Taiyuan City and Jinzhong City, the management committee of Shanxi Comprehensive Reform Demonstration Zone and other relevant departments should strictly follow the plan to control the land use for facilities such as line corridors, stations, transfer hubs, depots, parking lots, control centers, disaster recovery centers, and main substations, and strengthen planning and spatial control of land use to create favorable conditions for the implementation of rail transit. The stations shall be set up in close connection with airport hubs, important railway hubs, bus stations, social parking lots, long-distance bus stations and other important transportation facilities, strengthen the connection between rail transit and other transportation modes such as aviation, railway, public transport, and make unified planning and reasonable arrangement for important transfer hubs.
